The winners of the 2023 Book Edit Writers' Prize

We are thrilled to announce the winners of 2023’s Writers’ Prize. Drum roll, please…the winners are:

These eight talented winners will go on to read at an online showcase for invited industry guests next week and an anthology of their winning entries and a recording of the event will subsequently be published on The Book Edit website.

Run this year in association with Legend Press and judged by acclaimed author Deepa Anappara, the competition for final places has been fierce. Speaking of the experience, Deepa said 'It was a privilege and a pleasure to read the submissions for the Book Edit Writers’ Prize. There was immense variety in style, genre, and form, and I found each extract to be engaging, entertaining and immersive. My congratulations to the winners and everyone who submitted - I wish them all good luck with their writing.’

2023 Book Edit Writers' Prize Shortlist

Seventeen writers have been shortlisted writers for 2023’s Book Edit Writers’ Prize. The final winners, judged this year by acclaimed author Deepa Anappara, will be announced next week with a special online showcase for industry guests on later this month. All the winning entries will also be published in an online anthology accessed via The Book Edit’s website after the showcase.
